No. German smear is hand-troweled lime mortar that bonds to the brick surface. It cures into a permanent mineral finish — it won't peel like paint and ages gracefully for decades.
Will it damage my brick over time?+
The opposite. Our lime-based mortar is breathable, so your brick can still release moisture the way it was designed to. That's actually healthier for the brick than paint or sealers.
How long does it take to complete?+
